Daydreams and Fantasies

It started in March. I don't remember the exact day or what exactly it was that made me realize all of a sudden that this guy was actually super sweet, but that's not really important. What was important was that I had a crush on a guy I was working with, and the last time that happened, well let's just say it ended pretty badly for me. But that wasn't the worst part. No, the worst part was the fact the guy I liked was in a serious, committed relationship for almost six months. What the hell was my world coming to? So for the next month and half I spent six days of the week trying really hard not to let it slip that I was hardcore into this guy. Well, that didn't go well. Every day it seemed I would find out something about him that would melt my heart. Or he'd be performing a number so filled with love and compassion that I couldn't help drifting off to fantasy land and wishing I was the one he was looking at with love and devotion in his eyes. And when my...

Better Than This

I go out dancing tonight Went to hit up the bartender for a little tequila and ice But never made it that far Cause I saw you, alone, drinking whiskey in a corner booth And I just knew I had to have you Dark hair, worn a little too long Eyes that shone brighter than those neon lights Flickering in the window in the dark of night A smile that turned me inside out And melting into a puddle on the ground The sound of your voice as you whisper in my ear Made me wanna get the hell out of here And find a quiet, dark road Where we could be alone Oh whoa Before I knew it, they were yelling last call I couldn't believe we'd talked for that long You asked me if I needed a ride home I knew I sh...

Cloud 9

Andy. That is  his name. The guy I met on one of those dating apps I swore I'd never download because I was convinced no decent guy downloaded those things. It was just a place full of creeps and players hoping to find a cute girl to sleep with and dump the next day. Well, I downloaded the app. My friend said it was a great confidence boost when a cute guy matched you. And after one bad run in after another with guys, I was in serious need of a confidence boost. Maybe if a few cute guys matched me, it would give me enough reassurance I wasn't a total loser.  So one day after returning home from an impromptu dinner invitation that led to an after party, I got in bed and proceeded to open the app as I fired up Netflix on my computer. I was swiping left a lot that night. And the few times I swiped right, most didn't lead to a match. And then his profile popped up on my screen. Andy. A  cute blonde a year older than me who loves to peform in musicals and cook. A bit of a game...

My New Approach to Writing and "For the Love of a Broken Heart"

Wow it's been a really long time since I've posted; almost two years to be exact. Starting college (and the lack of good ideas) had kind of taken up all of my time. In that time, though, I've been writing sporadically, and have gotten myself in a position where writing has been more of a priority now, and not just in terms of the novel I've been writing, but blogging as well. So today's post: My New Approach to Writing I started a novel almost three years ago while reading a Kelley Armstrong book. A scene in her novel had left me feeling in such a way all I could do was write. And write. And write. At first I had no intention of turning the scene I had stayed up until almost four in the morning writing, into a novel. But then the ideas started flowing. I found inspiration everywhere, but most of it came from feelings I'd experienced myself, feelings I'd hope to experience one day soon, or feelings I saw others close to me feeling.  I managed to intertwin...
