Family. Sometimes it can be a force of great strength. An impossible barrier to get passed when everyone's working together to accomplish a goal. Sometimes, though, family is a source of great pain. When one person breaks, the rest follow suit without choice. It's a large scale domino effect that could be impossible to overcome. You try your hardest not to let the cycle continue, but then something happens: one too many empty promises, one too many broken hearts, one too many criticsms, the list of possibilities endless. The inevitable occurs and you find yourself backed into a wall by the person you thought was always going to protect and love you unconditionally. You try to help the person, but time after time your efforts are proved unsuccessful and unappreciated. You want nothing more than to give up and quit as the person standing before you turns into a complete stranger, but your obligation to protect and love them no matter how many times they screw up and are wrong doe...

My New Approach to Writing and "For the Love of a Broken Heart"

Wow it's been a really long time since I've posted; almost two years to be exact. Starting college (and the lack of good ideas) had kind of taken up all of my time. In that time, though, I've been writing sporadically, and have gotten myself in a position where writing has been more of a priority now, and not just in terms of the novel I've been writing, but blogging as well. So today's post: My New Approach to Writing I started a novel almost three years ago while reading a Kelley Armstrong book. A scene in her novel had left me feeling in such a way all I could do was write. And write. And write. At first I had no intention of turning the scene I had stayed up until almost four in the morning writing, into a novel. But then the ideas started flowing. I found inspiration everywhere, but most of it came from feelings I'd experienced myself, feelings I'd hope to experience one day soon, or feelings I saw others close to me feeling.  I managed to intertwin...
